Bag that Blog Interview!

Hey there! So you're struggling to get your book in front of people? Well, I'm here to tell you it's not an unsolvable problem. The way we solve this is fairly straightforward, but you can't be shy.

It's simple to find lots of places willing to give you interviews. A simple Google search gives tons of results, though I admit it is a bit harder for an indie author to get them. But that's okay! We're here to help!

Step 1. Forget the biggest or the best, and go for the little guys. Like you the independent blogger is on a journey that won't be short term, use them to help uplift your own brand. This way you kill two birds with one stone, and help raise them up as well.

Step 2. Be genuine. Nothing worse than an author who's "Faking" it in. If you're going to ask for an interview, show yourself! Even if you can be a little crass, as I can be.

Step 3. Don't be shy! You want these people to want to talk to you. In order to do that, you've got to draw them in. If you're shy and timid, you're going to have a lot harder time getting an interviewer to be drawn in.

Step 4. Don't be arrogant! There's a difference between, "I know my writing is good, and I'd like your help to spread the word." and ,"I know my writing is good, so you should feel privileged to help me spread the word." Please, thank you, and other forms of manners go a long way to helping this process.

Step 5. Have fun with it. The whole reason you started writing to begin with was to have fun, so keep that going!

Now, I'm going to list a couple of places I've had interviews done. Places I know are accepting of independent authors and their struggles.! - Another awesome woman who gave me my first interview. - He doesn't typically do interviews, but I know I asked him for one and he was more than happy to oblige with a very indepth one. - Larissa is another wonderful woman who also does book reviews. - Chris doesn't do Interviews per se, but he loves guest posters, and there are a lot of readers that come to his site. Guest blogging can be one of your most powerful resources!

Oh, and then there's my own: - I have a Support Indie Author segment in which I'm happy to help you spread the word about your books.

These are some of the amazing resources that helped me to build my author platform. You may only think of yourself as an author, but a guest blog on sites will greatly improve the amount of eyes on you.
