Interview with Rowen Aether

1) Can you tell us a little about the inspiration behind your entry for this contest?

My inspiration came from a short story I already wrote using the same characters. In the story I mentioned Hades' enjoyment of baking, and the Valkyries' inability to cook anything besides roasted boar. Everything else just fell into place.

2) What made you decide to enter this contest?

My decision to enter was kind of made for me by my muse. As soon as I read the contest requirement the story immediately came to me. Comedy is something I'm good at writing, and I enjoy making people laugh.

3) Who are some of your favourite authors and why?

My favorite authors list is rather short, while my bookcase is filled to the brim. My favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien, Ann Rice, and Hideyuki Kikuchi. I love gothic horror and fantasy, especially if written well with engaging characters.

4) What is your favourite book you read this year and why?

Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to read any good books this last year.

5) What is your best piece of advice for all the new independent authors out there?

The only advice I can think to give to aspiring authors, and the guideline I've set for myself is "Write your story the way you want it to be told, not how you're told it should be written."
